Case Study — Fintech & Digital Vouchers App
DigiPayTech: Turning a Wallet Top-Up Into a Cash Voucher Business
Mont6 is building DigiPayTech, a mobile wallet and voucher-reselling app that lets agents in rural and remote communities top up a master balance and resell airtime, electricity, and water vouchers for cash — reaching customers who don't have a bank card. Not yet launched.

Project overview
In many rural and remote communities, the nearest till point, bank branch, or reliable card machine can be a long way off — but the need for airtime, electricity, and water vouchers doesn't go away. DigiPayTech is built to close that gap: an agent tops up a master wallet balance once, then resells airtime, electricity, and water vouchers to customers for cash, no card required on either side.
Mont6 is designing and building the DigiPayTech app end to end, from the agent wallet and voucher-selling flows through to the backend that issues vouchers and settles balances. The app is not yet launched.
The challenge
Serving a cash-based, often low-connectivity customer base with digital vouchers means the agent — not the end customer — has to carry all of the technology. DigiPayTech needed an app development partner who could build:
A simple wallet an agent can top up once, then draw down from every time they make a cash sale, instead of needing a card machine or a bank transfer for every single voucher. A single app to sell airtime, electricity, and water vouchers and pay bills, so an agent doesn't need a different device or process for each product type. Clear transaction history and income reporting, so an agent can reconcile their cash takings against what they've sold. A model that works where card infrastructure doesn't, because the customer pays cash and only the agent's wallet needs to be digital.
Our solution
Mont6 designed and built DigiPayTech around the agent, not the end customer — because in a cash economy, the agent is the one who needs an app.
An agent tops up their wallet balance with a simple top-up flow — enter an amount, confirm the summary, and the balance reflects instantly. From the home dashboard, they sell airtime, electricity, and water vouchers, or pay bills, each drawing down from the same wallet balance in real time. Every sale is logged to a transaction history with a category breakdown — top-ups, water, bills, electricity, airtime — so an agent can see exactly where their balance has gone. An Income Report gives agents visibility into their own earnings from reselling, turning it into something they can actually track and grow.
The app is currently in development and has not yet launched.
Key features
Master wallet top-up
Agents top up a single wallet balance up front — by card, EFT, or cash deposit — then draw down from it for every voucher they sell.
Airtime, electricity & water vouchers in one app
One app sells airtime, electricity, and water vouchers and pays bills, so an agent isn't juggling separate devices or processes per product.
Cash-first reselling
Customers pay the agent in cash — no card, bank account, or connectivity required on the customer's side, only the agent's.
Transaction history & category breakdown
Every top-up and sale is logged with a category breakdown, so an agent can reconcile their cash takings against what's left their wallet.
Agent income reporting
A dedicated Income Report gives agents visibility into their own earnings from reselling, not just a raw transaction log.
Built for low-connectivity, cash-based communities
The whole model is designed around communities where card infrastructure is unreliable or unavailable, without asking the end customer to go digital.
