Case Study — Social App for Hunters

BucksShot: Shoot, Scan, Share — A Digital Trophy Room for Hunters

Mont6 is building BucksShot, a mobile app that lets hunters log their trophies with photos and video, then generate a QR code for the trophy room wall — so anyone who scans it sees the full story behind the mount. The app is currently in final testing ahead of its public launch.

Project overview

BucksShot is a social app built for hunters — a place to log every trophy with photos, video, GPS location, and hunt details, then share the full story with friends, family, and other hunters.

Mont6 is building BucksShot end to end for iOS and Android. The app is currently in final testing ahead of its public launch on the App Store and Google Play.

The challenge

A trophy on a wall tells you what was hunted, but not the story behind it — where it happened, who was there, what the hunt was actually like. BucksShot needed an app development partner who could build a product that:

Lets hunters log every trophy — hunting or fishing — with photos, video, species, location, and the safari company or outfitter involved. Turns each logged trophy into a shareable digital record other hunters can browse, not just a private list. Bridges the physical trophy room and the digital story behind it, so a mounted trophy on a wall can link straight through to photos, video, and hunt details. Works as a genuine social product for the hunting community, not just a private note-taking app.

Our solution

Mont6 designed and built BucksShot as a trophy-logging and sharing app that treats every hunt as a story worth telling.

Hunters log a trophy — hunting or fishing — with a title, species, photos, an optional hunt video or video link, GPS location, safari company, and date. Each trophy gets its own card with a swipeable photo gallery, expandable Location and Trophy Details sections, and a one-tap Share Trophy QR button that generates a unique QR code for that specific trophy. Printed and mounted next to the trophy itself, that code lets anyone — a visitor in the trophy room, a friend online — scan it and see the full story: photos, video, and details, with no app install required to view it. A separate Share My Profile option lets a hunter share their entire digital trophy room at once.

The app is currently in final testing ahead of its public launch on the App Store and Google Play.

Key features

Hunting & fishing trophy logging

Every trophy is logged with species, title, date, GPS location, and the safari company or outfitter involved — for both hunting and fishing catches.

Photo & video hunt records

Each trophy carries a swipeable photo gallery plus an uploaded hunt video or linked video URL, so the full story is attached, not just a photo.

QR code for the trophy room

A one-tap "Share Trophy QR" generates a unique code for each trophy — print it and mount it next to the trophy so visitors can scan it and see everything in detail.

Shareable hunter profile

A separate "Share My Profile" option lets a hunter share their entire digital trophy collection with friends and other hunters at once.

Grid, list & location views

Hunters browse their trophy collection as a photo grid, a detailed list, or by location, and filter between hunting and fishing trophies.

Expandable trophy details

Location and Trophy Details sections expand on demand, keeping the trophy card clean while still surfacing species, date, and hunt media when needed.
